Why use Rockwool Dual density insulation boards?
Rockwool not only improves the thermal comfort of buildings, it also helps to reduce noise within the building. Another benefit of Rockwool dual density insulation boards is that they are non-combustible – Non-combustible Rockwool insulation acts like fire barrier and does not contribute to fire. Finally Rockwool is also breathable, making it the insulation material of choice for Architects and builders alike.
Rockwool Dual Density insulation board is the premium choice for external wall insulation works. Rockwool is a brilliant, hard-wearing insulating material, specifically designed to survive in exposed environments and under the toughest conditions.

The Rockwool dual density slab is made up of two different density layers of wool – the outer layer is denser, giving a firmer surface on which to apply the basecoat and render. Rockwool external wall insulation boards require metal pin mechanical fixings as well as adhesive to tie them to the wall (a minimum of 7 fixings are required per m2).

Use netting on scaffolding as well as protective rainproof covering to reduce exposure to elements such as rain and excess sunlight.
There are 2 boards in each pack (each board is 600 x 1200mm) so total coverage is 1.44 m2.
Applying Rockwool Insulation
Rockwool insulation slabs should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions – these includes guidelines on design and other aspects of application. We recommend the boards are fixed to the substrate with mortar/adhesive and mechanical fixings to ensure maximum adhesion.
Because of the greater weight of mineral wool we advise that you use the EWI-225 Premium MW Adhesive for the application rather than a standard adhesive, which is used on lighter insulating materials. Apply a light, watery based coat of the adhesive to your prepared surface initially. When it is dry, apply the basecoat, then sink in the fibre glass mesh.
Use an industrial hoover to clean-up the mineral wool fibres.
The Mineral wool comes in packs of 2 sheets in 600mm x 1200mm slabs.
